CisBio's Chromoa® Chromogranin A ELISA

Chromoa®

The Chromoa® Chromogranin A ELISA from Cisbio Bioassays is for the quantitative determination of CgA in serum and plasma. The patented monoclonal detection system provides superior specificity, sensitivity and reproducibility to determine elevated serum CgA levels. Above all, the hook effect that is typically seen in other CgA assays is not present, thereby providing you with confidence in your results. There are several research applications for Chromogranin A measurements for which the assay can be utilized.

Chromogranin A

Chromogranin A (CgA) is a glycoprotein widely expressed in endocrine and neuroendocrine cells. CgA is a prohormone that undergoes proteolysis in a tissue-specific fashion to give rise to a series of biologically active peptides that induce essential paracrine or autocrine functions. Applications for Chromogranin A

Research has demonstrated several applications for Chromogranin A level measurements:
  • CgA has been found to be valuable in samples of neuroendocrine tumors such as neuroblastoma, pheochromocytoma, carcinoid tumors, endocrine pancreatic tumors, and lung, prostate, colon, and breast tumors.
  • A relationship has been established between elevated serum CgA levels and prostate carcinoma due to neuroendocrine differentiation.

Achieve Superior Results

Due to the observation of a high dose hook effect in ~15% of samples being run, ARUP Laboratories set out to compare three commercially available CgA ELISAs with an in-house developed CgA assay. They found that all but the Chromoa® assay from Cisbio Bioassays exhibit a high dose hook effect. A competitive comparison chart of various Chromogranin A ELISAs to illustrate that there is no high dose hook effect with the Chromoa Chromogranin A ELISA.

Resources

Research has indicated there are multiple applications for Chromogranin A. Elevated serum CgA levels have been associated with prostate cancer and other neuroendocrine tumors. The Chromoa® Chromogranin A ELISA is a superior method for determining CgA levels in human serum or plasma. Unlike other CgA assays available, the ELISA does not exhibit a high dose hook effect.
