The Ultrasensitive PGE2 ELISA is for the quantitative determination of Prostaglandin E2 in human saliva, serum, whole blood, tissue culture media and urine with results overnight + 1 hour. Research Use Only. Not for Use in Diagnostic Procedures.

Prostaglandin E2 is formed in a variety of cells from PGH2, which itself is synthesized from arachidonic acid by the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase (3-6). PGE2 has been shown to have a number of biological actions, including vasodilation (7), both anti- and proinflammatory action (8,9), modulation of sleep/wake cycles (10), and facilitation of the replication of human immunodeficiency virus (11). It elevates cAMP levels, (12) stimulates bone resorption (13), and has thermoregulatory effects. It has been shown to be a regulator of sodium excretion and renal hemodynamics (14). See instructions for use for references.
