Ghrelin is present in the peripheral circulation in two forms: acylated and non-acylated. The Mouse / Rat Acylated Ghrelin ELISA specifically measures the acylated form of ghrelin. The Mouse / Rat Acylated Ghrelin ELISA is based on a double-antibody sandwich technique; the wells of the plate supplied with the kit are coated with a monoclonal antibody specific to the C-terminal part of ghrelin. This antibody will bind to any ghrelin introduced into the wells (standard or sample). The AChE - Fab` conjugate which recognizes the N-terminal part of ghrelin is also added to the wells. This allows the two antibodies to form a sandwich by binding on different parts of the acylated ghrelin. Each kit contains ghrelin AChE-Fab` conjugate, rat acylated ghrelin standard, two ghrelin quality controls, Ellman’s reagent, EIA buffer, wash buffer, Tween 20, plates pre-coated with anti-ghrelin mouse monoclonal antibody, and complete instructions.

Cases of food and environmental allergies have been increasing over the last decade. While conservative estimates suggest IgE-mediated allergy affects 6-8% of children and 2-3% of adults, some estimates are as high as 30%.3, 2 Symptoms can range from mild to severe and include itching, hives,...
Food sensitivity or food intolerance involves a non-allergic response to a food or food additive. In a recent on-line survey conducted in the U.S., 24% of adults aged 18 to 79 reported a food intolerance. While a food allergy is typically mediated by IgE antibodies, adverse reactions to food...
