The Epinephrine RIA is a radioimmunoassay intended for the quantitative determination of epinephrine in Plasma and Urine. Epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine are members of the catacholamine family which act as hormones and neurotransmitters throµghout the body. The main role of catecholamines is in the adaptation to acute and chronic stress, often described as the "flight or flight response." The release of epinephrine into the bloodstream results in an increased heart rate and blood pressure while suppressing non-emergency needs such as digestion.
