Product Manager
Company overview: ALPCO Diagnostics sells immunoassay kits (ELISA/RIA) as well as antibodies and recombinant proteins to the life science and medical diagnostic industries. Customer segments include clinical and hospital reference labs, Biotech and Pharmaceutical R&D labs and basic academic research labs.
Position description: The Product Manager is responsible for the overall success for a product or product lines. The PM will work with the Marketing Manager to develop a marketing plan for Diabetes and Obesity Research Assay products or product lines according to the goals and objectives of the organization. In addition to developing effective and efficient marketing collateral and programs to support the sales effort, the PM works closely with customers to drive business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Working with both internal and external resources, assist in the development of a communications program that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products including graphics, brochures, websites, and all marketing collateral
- Evaluate performance of marketing programs to help develop and update company and program goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute marketing program for specific assigned products.
- Participate in sales activities when necessary to ensure success of the product or product lines.
- Identify, monitor, and analyze market trends, competition, and pricing with specific products, vendors, and/or customers.
- Participate in Business Development opportunities that are relevant to the product line.
- Travel (some overnight 5-10%) for customer demonstrations, tradeshow exhibitions, strategic sales presentations and technical service visits.
- Provide market feedback to the operations, sales, and marketing groups.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong team leadership and process facilitation capabilities
- Must possess strong listening and communication skills
- Process focused, detail oriented, organized and thorough
- Strong problem solving ability and/or data analysis
- 3-5 years Sales/Marketing experience, ideally in metabolic disease research products
- Experience creating clear and effective promotional programs involving traditional marketing as well as online/website channels.
- BS/MS degree in biology, biochemistry, and 5+ years experience in a scientific research or diagnostic related field.
- Basic understanding of diagnostic research products, clinical research and/or the biotech and pharmaceutical R&D markets.

Manufacturing Tech I
Reporting to: Laboratory Operations Manager

Customer segments include clinical and hospital reference labs, Biotech and Pharmaceutical R&D labs and basic academic research labs.
Overview of position: A successful candidate in this position will be able to thrive in a high paced atmosphere. The Manufacturing Tech I is expected to follow established procedures in the manufacture of ELISA kits and components; can perform standard manufacturing procedures and has knowledge of commonly used laboratory concepts and practices; relies on instructions and established guidelines or protocols to perform job functions; works under immediate supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Follows manufacturing schedule.
- Participates in maintaining program for bulk inventory control, including ordering, tracking, sequestration and waste.
- Participates directly in and documents the operation, maintenance, and calibration of manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Uses process manufacturing documents, BOM and component matrix lists to assure proper ingredients and quantities are added according to established SOPs, performs checks to ensure accurate use of weights and measures.
- Interacts with Quality Control and Quality Assurance to provide information and support to ensure quality of intermediate and finished products.
- Responsible for filling/dispensing of bulk solutions into final packaging. May assist in component labeling and kit assembly.
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma + Biotechnology Certificate (or equivalent) or Associates Degree in biotechnology manufacturing
- Manufacturing experience: 0-4 years
- Understanding of immunoassays
- Must possess adequate written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with MS Office Programs.
- Detail orientation and multitasking skills necessary to be successful
- Requires lifting, carrying objects weighing 40 lbs. or less; occasionally pushing, pulling objects weighing 100 lbs. or less

Product Support Specialist
Position Description: The Product Support Specialist (PSS) is a pre/post sales product support role within ALPCO’s Customer Service Department. This person is responsible for first identifying and then meeting the customer’s needs by acting as the liaison between the customer and ALPCO’s internal and external personnel (sales, order processing, accounting, logistics, manufacturing, external vendors, etc.). Each PSS will have general responsibilities for particular segments of ALPCO’s customer base (Clinical, Industrial or Academic).
Responsibilities:
- Act as the initial point of contact for pre and post sale product inquiries.
- Provide technical assistance and assay trouble shooting in the product support role.
- Conduct product evaluations to formulate a technical assessment of any new and/or revised products as appropriate.
- Conduct assay trouble shooting to confirm or refute product failures from the field.
- Act as first-line of technical support for organic product line and customer interface when internal R&D resources are required for issue resolution.
- Act as first-line of technical support and liaison and/or interface with ALPCO’s vendors for any inquiries related to externally sourced products.
- Properly document all product inquiries and complaints in ALPCO’s AIC system.
- Conduct periodic reviews and reports of ALPCO-80 product inquiries and/or technical complaints toward product enhancement consideration efforts.
- Successfully recognize sales opportunities and funnel them to ALPCO’s sales department (for organic products) and/or marketing manager (for all non-organic products).
- Travel (some overnight 5-10%) for customer demonstrations, tradeshow exhibitions, strategic sales presentations and technical service visits.
- Provide customers with product information, pre/post sales support and technical advice.
- Provide market feedback to sales, marketing and operations as appropriate.\
- Conduct customer service functions in a support role to the customer service associates (order entry/processing, inventory availability, order status, etc.) when resources are limited to aid in meeting customer demands (short staff, etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all personality types.
- Process focused, detail oriented, organized and thorough
- Strong problem solving ability and/or data analysis
- 3-5 years sales or customer-care experience and solid business acumen is desirable.
- BS degree in biology, biochemistry, or 3+ years experience in an assay development or diagnostic/product related field.
- Sound understanding of immunoassay based products and adequate laboratory skills to perform assays in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
- Must be capable of multitasking and be an effective time manager.
